Macclesfield College’s ‘Engineering – Girls Can Do It Too’ project introduces girls, young women and parents to the many career opportunities available in Engineering and aims to show them how many of the jobs in this exciting industry can be accessed by studying Science, Maths, Technology and Engineering at school, college and university.
The project began in March 2008 and has received support from television presenter Konnie Huq (best known for being the longest-serving female presenter of Blue Peter) and MP Claire Curtis-Thomas.
As part of the project a series of girls-only extra-curricular activities have taken place since September for a pre-selected group of girls from local schools. Details of past events can be seen below.
Future events include on-going science and engineering after-school clubs as well as visits to local engineering organisations to see modern Engineering in action and showcase the opportunities available for females in the industry.
