We will encourage you to manage your own learning. However, we recognise that to do this successfully, many of you will need a wide range of Support Services during your time as a student. The Learning Support Services are open and flexible so that you can access support when you want it.
The College's Learning Support service is available to all students at all levels and aims to help you achieve success in your education and future career. You may need help with your reading, writing or maths, you may even have language difficulties, or you may have a learning difficulty or disability. We will ensure that you have an individual programme of support to help you learn in the way that is best for you.
A member of the College's Learning Support Team will be pleased to meet informally with you to discuss your needs - please call into the College or telephone 01625 410000 extension number 547 for more details. Macclesfield College complies with the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001.
When you enrol at Macclesfield College , you will be assigned a personal tutor who will help you to negotiate a study programme which best suits your needs and help you to progress through your course. Regular contact with your personal tutor will enable you to discuss the progress of your work, your attendance and your overall development with a caring and dedicated member of staff.
In tutorials you will develop personal effectiveness, building your confidence for your next step into employment or further/higher education as well as tracking your progress on your present course.
When it's time for you to move on from College your Personal Tutor will provide information and guidance as well as writing a supportive reference for you.
If you have learning difficulties or disabilities, the College will make every effort to help and extend your opportunities; to help you access appropriate courses, to provide support at enrolment and on your chosen course (s), and to provide you with advice and guidance to assist you to move from college to further study or employment.
You may wish to have a copy of the College's Support Statement from Customer and Student Services. The College has lifts to improve access for wheelchair users.
