Macclesfield Learning Zone Sixth Form students raised an impressive £255 recently in two separate car wash events for the East Cheshire Hospice.
The students, who are studying for the BTEC National Diploma in Business Management and Marketing, didn't mind rolling up their sleeves for a hard day's work in aid of charity. First year student Lujean Ahmad said: 'Not only has this helped with studying our unit Managing a Business Event it has also supported a very worthy local cause.'
As part of the event the students ran an advertising campaign to draw in business and also brought in extra money for the charity by selling raffle tickets to customers. The first prize was a meal for two in the College's Silk Room Restaurant, won by College Library Assistant Andrew Baker. Chocolate and wine were also up for grabs.
Tutor Carole Uske commented: 'The event was a great success and they made a substantial amount of money for the East Cheshire Hospice. I was so relieved that the sun shone for them and helped to bring in the customers!'
