Madelyn Bridge, founder and CEO of Age Concern East Cheshire, was delighted to pick up a huge 21st Anniversary cake created by students from Macclesfield College under the direction of their acclaimed pastry chef and lecturer, Scott Surtees.

The cake starts a year of celebrations planned to mark Age Concern East Cheshire's 21 years of dedicated service to older people across East Cheshire. The celebrations will culminate in a splendid Gala Ball on 3 October 2009 at Mottram Hall Hotel. The Charity is looking for businesses to sponsor this event that will serve as a celebration and a fundraiser.

Madelyn commented: "We're extremely grateful to the students and staff at the College for helping us get our anniversary year off to such a tasty start. It is encouraging that these young people are willing to do something for older people. After all, in 21 years time many of these students will be caring for their parents or even grandparents and Age Concern East Cheshire will be there to give them a helping hand."

The cake, that took 4 hours to create over two sessions, was made by students on the NVQ 2 Pastry & Confectionery course at Macclesfield College. It will be served up with a great cup of tea to the older people who attend one of the five day care sessions that are run weekly by Age Concern East Cheshire across the new local authority area.

If, like the staff and students at Macclesfield College, you or your business would like to get involved in helping to make Age Concern East Cheshire's 21st Anniversary year go with a bang then call Karyn Johnston on 01625 660527.
