Students from Macclesfield College’s Level 3 BTEC in Sport and Level 3 BTEC in Sports Sciences recently visited Stoke City FC’s Britannia Stadium to find out more about the role of the club’s coaching staff and their community programme.
The students, who are currently in their second year, took part in a day of shadowing and workshops with coaches and staff from Stoke City Football in the Community. The first part of the day involved an introduction to the Community Trust and how the role of a coach is much more than just the delivery of sessions. The students then have the chance to tour the stadium and gain valuable insights to a local training venue where they took part in practical coaching sessions and had the opportunity to engage with Stoke FC staff in Q&A workshop.
Their day at the Britannia Stadium also allowed students to discover more about the Stoke City Football in the Community programme, including Stoke City’s ‘Premier League 4 Sport’ and ‘Premier League Kicks’ projects. The action-packed, fact-finding day was enjoyed by all students who gained some valuable insights into the world of a coach.
