Students learn all about local business Arighi Bianchi

As part of Macclesfield College’s Industry Week, Level 3 Business and Level 3 IT students were fortunate enough to attend a talk hosted by Nick Bianchi, from local furniture store Arighi Bianchi.

The purpose of the talk was to explain how the business worked as well as giving some background information on the company’s origins and its development. Located by the Silk Road in Macclesfield, Arighi Bianchi was founded in 1854 by a duo of Italian immigrants Antonio Arighi and Antonio Bianchi. The students discovered that the company’s current building was inspired by the Crystal Palace exhibition of 1851, with the store being able to boast that they have supplied royalty – supplying both Marlborough and Sandringham House, respectively.

Mr Bianchi entertained the students with some humorous anecdotes about the business and outlined his commitment to providing good quality service. He also participated in an informative questions and answer session with the students.

Arighi Bianchi’s Creative Director, Kate McHale, also gave some insight on what it is like working from a marketing perspective in a successful local business and informed the students on how Arighi Bianchi market their campaigns. The students were shown examples of TV adverts as well as traditional newspaper adverts.

Commenting on the talk, Business student George Horner said, “I found the session extremely interesting as I learnt information about what has been a rock in Macclesfield’s community for as long as I can remember.” Fellow classmate, Keaton Smith also commented, “I didn’t realise there was so much going on in the day-to-day running of Arighi Bianchi.”

Overall, the talk was a great success with the students gaining a useful insight into the running and marketing of a successful business.
