Art and Design students to collaborate on special project

Fashion, Photography, Graphics and Fine Art students from Macclesfield College of Further and Higher Education are collaborating on a special live project in conjunction with Incubation Arts at Charles Roe House in Macclesfield to create a unique exhibition.

Angela Devoti, course leader for UAL Level 3 in Fashion at the College, explained how the project came about, “This summer our fashion students worked with Incubation Arts to showcase our end-of-year fashion show in Martin O’Neill’s exhibition of Joy Division photographs. We fully support Incubation Arts founder Julie Hamer’s vision in turning Charles Roe House into a permanent exhibition centre for the iconic and pioneering band Joy Division (which are long overdue recognition in their home town) – this will also enable Incubation Arts to play a significant role in promoting the arts in Macclesfield and surrounding areas.

“As part of the new project for the forthcoming College term I wanted to involve all our Art and Design students to design and produce a creative outcome which will be showcased in a special exhibition to take place on 24th February at Charles Roe House. This will be a ticketed event and all the money raised from the exhibition will be donated to Incubation Arts towards their developments at Charles Roe House.

“We are very excited to be involved once again with Incubation Arts on such an inspiring project. As the next generation of creatives, this project will give all the students the perfect opportunity to showcase their individual point of view. Collaboration is so important and we will all be coming together to form one big creative unity; sharing in this unique experience in helping to support Incubation Arts’ vision.”

Earlier this term the Art and Design students visited Charles Roe House to research the exhibition spaces and discuss with Julie Hamer the plans ahead. Julie commented, “All the students enjoyed looking around the Grade II Listed Charles Roe House; it was great to see so much enthusiasm for the proposed art exhibitions in this space. Incubation Arts are looking forward to collaborating again with Macclesfield College to showcase students’ creativity in February 2016.”
