Entrepreneur inspires students

One of the UK’s leading entrepreneurs, Scott Fletcher MBE, recently visited Macclesfield College of Further and Higher Education to present an inspirational talk to students and staff.

Scott is a champion of youth and apprenticeships and gave a keynote talk to invited students from IT and Business courses. Scott heads up companies with a total valuation in excess of £100m with 400 staff based in Manchester, London and internationally. His primary business, ANS Group, has over 600 customers nationwide and is one of Europe’s foremost IT companies.

In front of an enthusiastic audience, Scott described how he founded ANS from his back bedroom in 1996 at the age of 22 and how he developed it into a company which now has a turnover of £50m. He also outlined how his hard work and dedication helped him pick up countless awards, including Entrepreneur of the Year for the North West at the National Business Awards and an MBE for his services to business.

College lecturer Emily Mugridge, who arranged Scott’s visit, commented, “It was great to hear Scott share with the students his passion for entrepreneurship. We are really thankful to him for agreeing to give up his valuable time to talk to the students – he is a real inspiration and serves as a wonderful example to our students that opportunities are available for young people with the right attitude and work ethic.”

Scott outlines to the students how he built his successful career.
