The new Principal of Macclesfield College of Further and Higher Education, Rachel Kay, has proudly announced the organisation’s new Mission Statement and Values at a special launch event for students and staff. The College’s new mission statement ‘Empowerment through learning’ was revealed along with seven core values which have been developed in consultation with staff. These are:
• Striving to be the best
• Equality of opportunity
• Everybody has the right and responsibility to learn
• Respect and tolerance
• Learning without boundaries
• Delivering value for money
• Pride in our environment
Rachel commented, “It is a really exciting time for Macclesfield College. My hope is that these tools will help drive the organisation forward into the future.”
Cheshire-born Rachel, who was appointed Macclesfield College’s new Principal and Chief Executive in August 2015, has a proven track record of success in the education and business sectors. She previously worked as Deputy Principal and Managing Director of Tresham College of Further and Higher Education where she was the the driving force behind its business training brand to increase apprenticeship recruitment and forge partnerships with local employers.
She began her career in top level management with a national hotel chain before moving to the role of Director and Assistant Principal at Salford City College. As a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, Rachel was named by Midlands Business Insider as one of the region’s most influential Women in Business.
She is now looking forward to the new challenges ahead, commenting, “I’m delighted to join Macclesfield College and help build on the excellent work that is already happening here. I’m excited to be leading the implementation of the College’s new strategic focus and positioning the College as the place for quality training and excellence in the workplace.”
