High flying student jets into College

Macclesfield College Travel and Tourism students were treated to a visit by a previous student who is now working as a cabin crew member with the airline Jet 2.

Nicki Utley, who left College last summer, gave the Level 3 BTEC students a presentation relating to the application and interview process and spent time telling them about the role and responsibilities of a cabin crew member, including the intensive training required.

This enabled them to link into their current unit of study 'Preparing for Employment' by using current industry examples. The students all really enjoyed the discussion and were interested in the interview tips that Nicki was able to pass on, especially as some of the students are looking to apply for positions with airline companies.

Travel and Tourism course teachers Debbie Sandhu and Nwyla Tatton were delighted to see Nicki doing so well and were particularly impressed with her confident presenting skills. Nicki credited her College course for helping her develop such skills which enabled her to successfully pass the interview process with Jet 2.
