Students quiz election candidate

Students at Macclesfield College got into the spirit of the election debates by holding a ‘question time’ style session with local Labour candidate, Tim Roca.

The students, from the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma courses in Public Services and Health & Social Care, quizzed Mr Roca for an hour on hot topics such as immigration, the National Health Service, education funding and the national deficit. They also discussed local issues affecting Macclesfield and the importance of young people voting to make their voice heard.

The debate follows on from a session the students had a few weeks ago with the Conservative candidate David Rutley who is looking to be re-elected as the MP for Macclesfield. The visits from the two political figures were organised as part of their studies to help them gain a greater understanding of the democratic process and the role of government.
