Flexible, manageable study

Degree StudentsFoundation Degrees are studied ‘full-time’ for 2 years, involving 1-3 days a week at College, or part-time over 2-4 years, which means you can continue to work and earn whilst studying. Some involve examinations, but many focus on continuous assessment and coursework, which can include essays, presentations, case studies, portfolios, practicals, reports and research projects.

Degree qualifications to suit you

Foundation Degrees are suitable for anyone aged 18 and over, whether you’re straight from College or Sixth Form or are a mature student. In general you need GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths and a suitable Level 3 qualification such as:

  • AS/A2 Level
  • BTEC Extended Diploma
  • Advanced Diploma
  • NVQ/Diploma Level 3 or equivalent

However, you will be considered if you have the appropriate work experience or a strong desire to succeed.

A wise financial move

Studying locally at Macclesfield College is more cost-effective than going to university as fees are lower. Full-time Foundation Degree students are entitled to Government grants, loans and bursaries, and part-time students are eligible for loans and grants to help with fees and course expenses.
