Accounting & Payroll

The Accounting and Payroll team at Macclesfield College has many years experience of working with employers. We offer training in Accounting and Payroll on a full-time basis at college or on a part-time basis for those who are working. We provide flexible patterns of study which can fit around your working life. We have a wide variety of students, some are Apprentices who work and attend College; other employees want to obtain formal qualifications to validate their experience; others wish to up-skill or change direction in their careers. Funding is available for this for whom this is a first level 2 (see Train to Gain ).

Our Approach to AAT

We offer the well-recognised and highly regarded AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) accounting qualifications which are also NVQ qualifications.

Our programmes focus on helping individual students to achieve their full potential, and to acquire the practical knowledge, understanding and skills to ensure success in their chosen career. An enjoyable learning experience - we provide up-to-date technology in a comfortable and well-resourced learning environment.

Join a Successful Team

Macclesfield College won the IAB award for Highest Achievement for Payroll for January and June examinations for the second time in 2006 and we enjoy examination success rates well above the national average.

 

 

Courses

AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Education and Training Scheme:

Foundation Stage (NVQ 2)
An excellent introduction to Book-keeping and Accounts. A detailed explanation of sales ledger, purchase ledger and cash book activities.

Intermediate Stage (NVQ 3)
The study units on the Intermediate programme include Financial and Management Accounting.

Technician Stage (NVQ 4)
An advanced course suitable for those who are employed or wish to be employed in an accounting function.

Book-keeping
This part-time evening Introduction to Book- keeping is suitable for those who may wish to set up their own business.

Payroll Administration (NVQ 2)
25-week course for those who are already working in Payroll who wish to obtain a national qualification.

Computerised Payroll (using Sage)
16-week course suitable for those who are experienced in Manual Payroll and wish to learn how to operate Sage Payroll

Computerised Accounts Levels 1&2
30-week course suitable for those who are new to Computerised Accounts although some knowledge of Accounts is advisable
