Apprenticeships are an excellent way for motivated people, aged 16 or over, to earn while they learn, and businesses to attract a hardworking skilled workforce.
At Macclesfield College there are a wide range of Apprenticeship programmes on offer across various sectors of industry.
If you’re 16 or over and would prefer to earn while you’re learning then becoming an apprentice could be just the answer!
Apprentices are employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week and learn both on the job and at College, where you will gain nationally recognised work-related qualifications such as NVQs and technical certificates to give you marketable skills and help you get on in your career.
Your training will be funded and you will be paid for the work you do – the minimum Apprenticeship wage set by the government is currently £2.60 per hour, however the majority of employers pay significantly more.
The length of an Apprenticeship varies depending on the job you’re doing, your age and how much experience you have. On completion you will be awarded a Certificate of Apprenticeship and may find that your employer can offer you a permanent position at your company. After successfully completing your Apprenticeship you can choose to progress on to an ‘Advanced Apprenticeship’ or further study, such as a Foundation degree at Macclesfield College.
