What is an Apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are an excellent way to earn while you learn. Apprentices are employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week and learn both on the job and at College, where you will gain nationally recognised work-related qualifications.

How old do I need to be?

You must be aged 16 or over.

How do I get an Apprenticeship?

When do I go to College?

You will usually come into the College for one day per week

How long is an Apprenticeship?

The length of an Apprenticeship varies depending on the job you’re doing, your age and how much experience you have.

How much will I earn?

The minimum Apprenticeship wage set by the government is currently £3.40 per hour, however the majority of employers pay significantly more.

When would I start?

Most Apprenticeships offer staggered start dates throughout the year.

What happens at the end of my Apprenticeship?

On completion you will be awarded an Apprenticeship framework and may find that your employer can offer you a permanent position at your company. After successfully completing your Apprenticeship you can choose to progress on to an ‘Advanced Apprenticeship’ or further study, such as a Higher National qualification at Macclesfield College.
