Course Information

Overview
This qualification is for anyone working or wanting to progress in job roles within Health and Social Care, Early Years and Childcare which involves a requirement for food safety.
It will prepare learners for further learning or training and/or develop knowledge and/or skills in a subject area.

Outcome
This unit aims to develop a learner’s knowledge of food safety in Health and Social Care, Early Years and Childcare settings.

Entry Requirements
Learners should be at least 16 years old.

Content
This is a knowledge only unit, therefore, work experience is not mandatory.
Learners will develop their knowledge in Principles of Food Safety when providing food and drink for individuals.

Assessment
To gain this unit learners must achieve one knowledge unit – Principles of Food Safety when providing food and drink for individuals.
Learners do not need access to the workplace as this is a knowledge unit only.
The unit will be internally assessed and must be in line with the Skills for care and Development Assessment Strategy.
Methods of assessment could include; professional discussion, reflection, written assignments or records.
