This qualification will enable the learner to develop the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and learning in the school environment and is made up of mandatory and optional units which are based on knowledge and skills.
NCFE/ CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
Successful completion of (BKSB) Maths and English initial assessments (above Entry 3)
Level 2 award in supporting teaching and learning in schools
Relevant experience working in schools and/or with children
Learners must arrange their own DBS either through their placement school or through the college’s HR department prior to starting the course.
Learners are required to find their own placement to work/ volunteer in a real work environment to demonstrate competence in both knowledge and skills.(12 hours a week)
All units are internally assessed. Assessment enables the learner’s workplace practice to provide evidence for individual units as well as the whole qualification. Methods of assessment could include:
* Inference of knowledge from direct observation of practice
* directed work related tasks
* Professional discussion
* Reflection on own practice in real work situations
* Written assignments at Level 3 standard
* Learner’s own plans and written records
* work products as used in the work setting
The assessment of all the units will be by the Trainer / Assessor which is then internally quality assured by a qualified IQA. This is then audited by an External Verifier (EV)from the awarding organisation.
In order to successfully complete the qualification, all criteria have to be met with quality and sufficient evidence before certification.
