The CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering will benefit anyone working in an environment where food is prepared, cooked and served. This qualification will ensure compliance with environmental health and food legislation.
Who is it for?
The course is suitable for anyone who requires a qualification in food safety.
You will gain improved skills and knowledge in ensuring effective food safety. This qualification will ensure compliance with environmental health and food legislation requirements.
There are no entry requirements for the course.
The course consists of ten units:
• Introduction to food safety
• Legislation and employee responsibilities
• Food safety hazards and control measures
• Personal hygiene and food handling
• Temperature control: Refrigeration and chilling
• Cooking, hot holding and re-heating
• Taking temperatures
• Principles of safe food storage
• Food premises and equipment
• Cleaning and disinfection
Candidates are assessed by undertaking a mulitple choice exam consisting of 30 questions. The examination paper is available in a number of languages.

Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Catering
This will enable learners to undertake food preparation and handling duties within a catering enrvironment. This qualification may enble you work in any environment where food safety is essential e.g food service, food manufacturer and care environments.
