Course Information

This course is a paediatric first aid course and meets the requirements of the Early Years foundation stage statutory framework. The course focuses on emergency scenarios that are faced by professionals, including teachers, au pairs and playgroup leaders, looking after young children. It meets Ofsted requirements for registered childminders and the requirements for nannies under the DfES Approved Carers Scheme.

Who is it for?
The qualification is requirement of all Childcare Practitioners who require registration by OFSTED. This includes Childminders, Nannies, Nursery Practitioners, pre school & after school club staff. This course is for people working with children (birth – nineteen years old).

Learners will obtain the correct relevant skills to undertake emergency /first aid duties within a childcare setting.

Entry Requirements
Learners will need to be physically able in order to perform some of the manoevres and positions for recovery.

• Treatment of an unconscious casualty
• ResuscitationSprains, strains and fractures
• Poisoning, bites and stings
• Foreign objects
• Childhood conditions (e.g. measles, meningitis, croup).

Continuous assessment throughout the course by approved Trainer/Assessor.
