Course Information

This course will provide a comprehensive practical knowledge in dealing with first aid and emergencies within the work place. This course is legally compliant with the current Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Upon successful completion of this three day course, first aiders will receive a certification to qualify them to carry out first aid in the work place for three years.

Who is it for?
This is for you if you wish to become a First Aider at work or you have been nominated for first aid duties in the work place. All employers have a legal obligation to make first aid provision for their employees.

You will be able to provide first aid in the work place with confidence. The first aid you learn can be used inside and outside the workplace.

Entry Requirements
You will need to be able to undertake the practical assessments and also revise the course workbook manual during the course.

• Incident management
• Primary survey
• Secondary survey
• Bleeding, shock and eye injuires
• Choking
• First aid for minor injuries/major injuries
• Fractures and dislocations/spinal injuries/soft tissue injuries
• 12 major illnesses including heart attack/angina/fainting/stroke/brain attack/seizures/diabetes/asthma/head injuries/extreme temperatures
• Poisoning and anaphylactic shock
• Burns
• Plus more

There are two practical assessments at the end of this course. These are carried out in line with the Health and Safety Executive regulations. Successful candidates receive a HSE First Aid at Work approved certificate valid for three years.

Awarding Body
This course is recognised and monitored by the Health and Safety Executive.

Follow up courses/Progression
The HSE recommends a refresher course is completed annually to practice and update skills. A two day First Aid at Work requalification course is available to those who need to renew their certificate. A Paediatric First Aid course is available for those with an interest in childcare.

Career Opportunities
You will be able to provide first aid in the work place with confidence. The first aid you learn can be used inside and outside the workplace.
