Inspector's Report (2006)

News article:

An inspection of Macclesfield College by Ofsted describes the College as "Outstanding".

The Report highlights the College's key strengths as outstanding leadership and management, outstanding guidance and support, outstanding governance, good teaching and learning, high attendance, good and improving success rates, excellent employer engagement and a very well managed accommodation policy.

College Principal, Wendy Wright, commented "I am delighted that Ofsted has acknowledged Macclesfield College's outstanding performance. Managers and staff have work exceptionally hard over the last 5 years to ensure that teaching and support for students are consistently excellent. We have high expectations of students and they respond well. As a result, standards have risen steeply and Macclesfield is now one of the top performing colleges in England. It is very pleasing to have the inspectorate confirm our high performance and a most positive start for the Learning Zone."

Ian Standen, Chair of the College Corporation said, "Our recent inspection yielded results that can make us all immensely proud. The results reflect well on everyone involved with our College, and on behalf of the Corporation, I would like to congratulate and thank staff and students for their hard work. Our enviable result means that our College will be confident and positive in its contribution to the Learning Zone."

Liz Davis, Director of Area for Learning and Skills Council Cheshire and Warrington said "I would wish to congratulate the staff and governors of the college in this evidence of their success in providing quality education and training for the community and employers of Macclesfield. This further justifies the LSC's decision to invest over £10 million in the Macclesfield Learning Zone, which will create a leading edge 21st century educational centre that combines on the Park Lane Campus three different educational establishments - Macclesfield College, Macclesfield High School and Park Lane Special School". She added "As a centre of excellence for vocational training, Macclesfield College will also have a key role to play in providing access to the new Specialised Diplomas that are being developed and will start to become available to 14-19 year olds from 2008."
