Equality Objectives

A male and a female studentThe College's specific and measurable equality objectives help to ensure that Equality and Diversity are placed at the heart of College policies and procedures and are considered as part of the decision-making process.

They are 3 year objectives which focus on the most important equality issues facing the College today, and those that will have the greatest impact on students, staff and external stakeholders.

  1. To review the role of Additional Learning Support in supporting learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, to assess its impact on learner success rates and to make recommendations for continuous improvement
  2. To contribute to achieving the target in the Cheshire East Children and Young People's Trust Plan 2010-11 to narrow the gap in learning outcomes by supporting and tracking the progress in College of 16-18 year old students who received free school meals whilst at school
  3. To widen adult participation in areas of social disadvantage within the communities which the Learning Zone serves and to narrow the gap in success rates
  4. To seek to diversify the Macclesfield Learning Zone's workforce by taking positive action to increase recruitment from under-represented groups in terms of age, sex, ethnicity and disability

These objectives are addressed through the annual action plan of the Macclesfield Learning Zone Equality and Diversity Committee.
